The choir Mizunokai was founded in 2002. It has 10 members, all Japanese living in Switzerland, in or near Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds. They first met for the pleasure to sing Japanese songs. Then they decided to try to make this music better known in their region.
Under the direction of Setsuko Oshiro Jeanneret they worked very hard to get to the level necessary to sing in public. Their repertoire was extended to French, English, German and Italian songs. The quality increased and some concerts could be organized. Mizunokai was acclaimed by a large audience for its first participation in the yearly Choir festival at Chézard-St.Martin in February 2006.
On March 24, 2006, Mizunokai reinforced by some singers coming from the choir Blue Coconuts gave a concert during en event organized by Foyer Handicap La Chaux-de-Fonds: "Le vent du Japon" (Wind from Japan). The following songs were performed:

One of their aims is to let the beauty of the Japanese music better known in Switzerland. But they also want to know better European and American songs.
